Apple’s legendary co-founder and engineer Steve Wozniak will cut into the line this Saturday to purchase not 1, not 2, but three iPads (Apple’s two-per-customer limit be damned).
Like some folks overseas who asked their US friends to buy an iPad on their behalf, the benevolent gadget lover will be buying one iPad for a friend, too.
The famed engineer told Newsweek’s Daniel Lyons that he was initially skeptical about the device until he realized that multitouch of the iPad’s size rocks for some tasks that are too painful on the iPhone’s smallish screen.
The Woz specifically mentioned maps and web browsing:
"At first I thought, this is not for me. I have the iPhone for mobility and a computer for my computer life. With the iPhone there are certain things it just doesn’t do well, mostly in browsing. It’s horrible to navigate a map on an iPhone because of the screen size. I’ve ordered one for a friend. Then I ordered two for myself. One with the Wi-Fi and one with the 3G. And I’ll go to the store on Friday night and wait in line, just for fun."
Wozniak dubbed Apple’s tablet a great value for old people who refuse to waste their time on technologies that require a too steep a learning curve. He also thinks the iPad will be “huge” in the education market, particularly appealing to students on a limited budget who can’t justify a MacBook.
Wozniak summed it up nicely:
"Now they have the ideal thing. They can go to college and someone may have a whacked-out $6,000 laptop, but the guy with the iPad will get all the attention."

The co-founder himself breaks Apple's sales policy. Haha..... Two for him, one for his friend. Question is why he need two iPads? One is not enough, two is better. One with Wi-Fi version, another 3G version. Another question is whose the friend he helping to buy for? Anyway, it's his freedom to have two iPads and helping his friend to buy one. But, breaking the sales policy is still not a good move. Have fun with your two iPads, Mr. Wozniak!
